This fabulous Victorian 9ct Gold Mizpah Brooch is Circa 1880.

Mizpah is a name from the Bible. As Laban said, "The Lord watch between you and me, when we are absent one from the other. ... remember, God is witness between you and me". It is for this reason that Mizpah has often been interpreted as signifying an emotional bond between people who are separated, either physically by distance or by death.
Birmingham hallmarks can be seen on the reverse along side S.BROS which are the makers marks.
The brooch has developed a rosy hue with age.
